The College will be implementing online licensure renewals starting with pharmacy licenses whose licenses expire January 31, 2015 (see correction).
In the current renewal process, individual pharmacists are able to renew their registration online, but pharmacies must complete their license renewal manually. The push for online pharmacy license renewals will streamline the process and help ensure better record keeping.
It’s time for a change. Isn’t it always? As the saying goes: the only thing that remains constant is change. Strange saying, but it is true.

The deadline for pharmacy assistants to complete the bridging program to become a regulated Pharmacy Technician is just around the corner!
Current pharmacy assistants have until December 31, 2015 to complete all of the requirements, including registration payment.

The College’s Practice Review Program is set for launch!
The pilot program will be implemented first in community pharmacies across the province.
The College is currently in the process of hiring Compliance Officers to carry out the two portions of the Practice Review Program: the Pharmacy Review and the Pharmacy Professionals Review.
Staff are also busy working on tailoring the program for the hospital pharmacy launch later in 2015. Stakeholder engagement will be taking place soon – stay tuned for more details.

The CE-Plus tool got a mini makeover.
The College sent a voluntary survey in September 2013 to pharmacists and pharmacy technicians that had completed CE-Plus asking for feedback on continuing education, the PDAP Portal and the CE-Plus tool. Over 650 pharmacists and pharmacy technicians responded, and their feedback helped shape the following changes:
Pregnancy requires a cohesive health care team. That is why the Provincial Health Office, the Midwives Association of BC, and the Health Development and Women’s Health Directorate, Ministry of Health are urging pharmacists to refer prenatal patients as early as possible.
