What’s innovation? Is it good? Maybe not? I’ve been thinking about this lately, as I talk to pharmacists and technicians throughout the province. Lots of different angles to it.
Pain BC works to tackle three key issues: educating and empowering those in chronic pain, educating and empowering health care providers as they support patients with chronic pain, and facilitating change within the health care system so that chronic pain is adequately addressed.
Chronic pain does not get the recognition it deserves – but Pain BC is working to change that.
In a phone interview with the College, Pain BC Executive Director Maria Hudspith explained that chronic pain needs to come out from the shadows and start being acknowledged as a standalone cause.
The Health Profession Regulators of BC has been nominated for an award from the Council on Licensure, Enforcement and Regulation (CLEAR) for its “Our Purpose, Your Safety” campaign

The College is pleased to announce George Walton as the Board’s newest government appointed member. A lawyer in Victoria specializing in corporate and commercial law, including software licensing, manufacturing and distribution, Mr. Walton’s past civic involvement includes serving as Director of the Vancouver Island Better Business Bureau, the Vancouver Island Gold Society, the University of Victoria Foundation, and Director of the Allen and Loreen Vandekerkhove Foundation.

That’s a long history of not just regulating, but encouraging education and making sure the profession of pharmacy maintains its professionalism.
The College has established the Practice Review Committee (PRC) to oversee the Practice Review Program (PRP) currently under development.
With direction from the College Board, the Quality Assurance Committee set out to create the new program in collaboration with pharmacy professionals and other stakeholders. The new program replaces the existing Knowledge Assessment Exam, and builds upon the existing inspection process.
