The College would like to remind registrants to be vigilant with their emails and online security. This reminder is a result from another regulatory body being a target of an email phishing scam earlier this year.
Email phishing is the widely accepted term for email fraud; these are emails designed to persuade recipients to give sensitive personal information via email and/or install a computer virus to steal this information off of your device.

This website refresh project was a joint effort across the entire College as the Communications team worked alongside each department to update content and layout.
The new look and feel reflects the style and tone of the recently updated College logo, with a clean colour palette, simple structure and the return of pharmacy green.
Accidental methotrexate overdoses have recently been reported to the College through the complaints process. While these cases have been resolved, it was suggested that it would be valuable to bring this to the attention of pharmacy professionals across the province.
The College Board recently approved a new professional practice policy at the February Board meeting. This policy outlines minimum pharmacy security measures for community pharmacies.
As this policy applies to the entire province, the College will be hosting a Town Hall to inform registrants about the policy and its implementation.

I recently spent 3 weeks on the psychiatric unit of the local hospital. During my stay, the psychiatrist changed my antipsychotic medication to clozapine.
The College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia is hosting an introductory workshop in the use of methadone for the treatment of opioid dependence and in the provision of methadone prescribing for hospital patients (both for analgesia and opioid dependence).

Pharmacy professionals do great work each and every day, but it is important to help educate other health professionals and the public during Pharmacist Awareness Month. Many organizations participated in a big way to champion the work of pharmacy professionals.

The PEI College of Pharmacists has appointed its new Registrar.
Michelle Wyand was officially appointed in February after serving as interim Registrar for 4 months. She was previously the Assistant Registrar with the College.
