CALL FOR VOLUNTEER COMMITTEE MEMBERS 2021
The College of Pharmacists of British Columbia is inviting volunteers to serve on its committees!
The College’s committees are composed of members of the public, as well as registered pharmacists and pharmacy technicians.
Committees and subcommittees assist the College in meeting its legislated mandate to protect the public by ensuring practitioners have the knowledge, skills and abilities to provide safe and effective pharmacy care.
We encourage members of the public and registrants interested in contributing to BC's health system to learn more about the College's committees through their Terms of Reference linked to below.
In addition to pharmacists and pharmacy technicians, the College requires public representation on almost all of its committees.
Public committee members provide transparency and diverse perspectives, as well as a wide range of knowledge and skills that help to enhance the effectiveness of each committee.
In order to apply as a public member, please provide the following to [email protected]:
- Completed Public Committee Member Volunteer Application form
- Up-to-date Resume (Optional)

To be considered for appointment, you must:

All committee members are appointed for terms of up to 3 years and for a maximum of 6 consecutive years.
Committees meet as needed, with sessions ranging from half to full day or evening meetings. Committees may meet up to 3 to 4 times per year, however some may meet more frequently in panels up of 3 to 5 members.
COMMITTEE MEETINGS DURING THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC
In line with our COVID-19 Safety Plan to reduce spread of the virus, committee meetings will be conducted virtually, via video conference or teleconference.
Note: Should there be an exceptional circumstance requiring a Discipline Committee panel to be held in-person, appropriate COVID-19 safety protocols would be in place and the College would ensure all panelists were comfortable with the safety plan.
HOW APPOINTMENTS ARE MADE
All appointments are made by the Board of the College of Pharmacists of British Columbia.
Applications are reviewed by the College’s Governance Committee, who then provide recommendations for committee appointments to the College Board.
Appointments to College committees will be made by the Board at its April 2021 meeting.
Every person who is appointed will be notified as soon as possible.
DIVERSITY, EQUITY AND INCLUSION
The College is committed to diversity, equity and inclusion and encourages women, visible minorities, Indigenous Peoples, persons with disabilities, persons of diverse sexual orientation, gender identity or expression (2SLGBTQ+), and others to apply.

The College acknowledges with respect that the College of Pharmacists of BC is located on the unceded and traditional territories of the Coast Salish peoples – sḵwx̱wú7mesh úxwumixw (Squamish), sel̓íl̓witulh (Tsleil-Waututh), and xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam) nations whose historical relationships with the land continue to this day.
As the regulator for pharmacy practice in what is now known as British Columbia, we recognize all the traditional territories of First Nations peoples and the Indigenous peoples living across BC. The College encourages all registered pharmacists and pharmacy technicians to reflect on the traditional territory where they live and practise pharmacy.
