Coming forward about sexual misconduct, sexual abuse or discrimination and participating in the regulatory investigation process can be difficult and overwhelming. Under the Health Professions and Occupations Act (HPOA), three support programs have been established for those who have made a complaint of sexual misconduct, sexual abuse or discrimination by a licensed health professional. These programs are available to eligible complainants at no charge and are completely optional.
Information Services
College staff will provide information about the process of making a complaint, your rights under the HPOA, what to expect at each stage of the process including the investigation and disciplinary stages, and how to apply for available support programs.
Support Services
The College can facilitate access to trauma-informed counselling services intended to support recovery from an allegation of sexual misconduct, sexual abuse or discrimination by a licensee of the College of Pharmacists of BC.
Support Workers
The College can facilitate access to an independent, experienced and trained individual to assist you in understanding and navigating the regulatory complaint process.
Support Workers and counsellors play distinct roles in the process and act independently of the College of Pharmacists of BC. They do not investigate complaints or decide outcomes, and they cannot act as your advocate or legal representative.
If you make an eligible complaint, College staff will provide information on how to apply for support programs.
