On December 9-10, 2015, a full hearing was held in the BC Court of Appeal, on the College’s bylaws prohibiting the provision of incentives for prescriptions or pharmacy services.
The Court of Appeal has reserved its decision. The College will provide an update once the decision is received.
Qualified pharmacists can now become certified to administer intranasal immunizations. Effective December 3, 2015, amendments to the Pharmacists Regulation and the Health Professions Act Bylaws allow certified pharmacists to administer a drug (Schedule I, IA or II) or substance (Schedule III) by intranasal route.
After considerable deliberation, the College has extended the transition period for telepharmacy operators to become compliant with telepharmacy requirements to December 31, 2016. The transition period temporarily allows non-regulated pharmacy assistants to staff telepharmacy sites under the strict supervision of a pharmacist.
