General Counsel (Full-Time, Permanent)

About the Role

Reporting to the Registrar/CEO, the General Counsel participates as a member of the Executive Team, to contribute to the overall organizational strategy and oversees all legal aspects of the College. This role is responsible for a broad range of responsibilities including advising the College on a variety of legal matters related to the Health Professions Act (HPA), Pharmacy Operations and Drug Scheduling Act (PODSA), College Bylaws, Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FOIPPA), other relevant legislation, College operations, and College policies.

Based in Vancouver, the successful candidate is a practising lawyer with over 7 years of administrative law experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. The ideal candidate is knowledgeable of the regulatory framework and has a clear understanding of the College’s role in governing the profession. With experience handling a heavy, complex, diverse caseload with multiple inhouse clients and competing demands, the ideal candidate is credible in front of any audience and has the maturity and presence to develop consensus and partnerships across a diverse group of partners.
