Provisional Pharmacist Licence

Provisional Pharmacist Licence

A provisional licence may be granted by CPBC for individuals who are not yet eligible for a full licence so that they may provide pharmacy services under the supervision of a full licensee. If a provisional licence is granted, the individual may only use the title “pharmacist (provisional)” or “pharmacy technician (provisional)” and must not use any abbreviations.

Eligibility

The licence committee may issue a provisional licence to an applicant to temporarily allow the applicant to practise pending one or more of the following requirements.

Note that these requirements are in addition to the applicant meeting the applicable general eligibility requirements and providing evidence satisfactory to the licence committee that the applicant is fit to practice the profession of pharmacy subject to any limits or conditions imposed by the committee.

  • the completion of an equivalency determination of the applicant’s extrajurisdictional credentials or their knowledge, skills, ability and judgment,
  • the applicant’s successful completion of the examinations required
  • the applicant’s completion of any other examinations, transitional education, clinical training or other upgrading of knowledge, skills, ability and judgment required

For further information on eligibility for a provisional license, please review Section 71 of the CPBC Bylaws made under the Health Professions and Occupations Act.

Continuing Education (CE) is not required for your renewal, however you must submit your renewal form through eServices and pay the annual licence fee before your licence expires.
