Frequently Asked Questions

I note the fees are increasing - by how much?
Pharmacy licence renewal fees are increasing by 7.5% ($258.00).
Why are the fees increasing?

Like other Canadian organizations, we continue to see an increase in operational costs due to inflation. The day-to-day work of the College costs more. The Board has a duty to ensure CPBC has the resources it requires to fulfill its regulatory mandate to protect public health and safety.

To meet these evolving requirements, CPBC has focused on several strategic initiatives. These include enhancing continuous quality improvement in pharmacy care, advancing Indigenous cultural safety & humility, and ensuring regulatory and operational excellence in all areas of the College. Both registrant and pharmacy licensing fees directly support these efforts.

Who approves the fees?
Licensure fees are approved by the CPBC Board.
How are the fees being used?
Fees support CPBC’s core functions, including setting and enforcing practice standards, registrant registration, investigating complaints to protect public health and safety, and to ensure pharmacy practice adapts to the evolving healthcare landscape
Are fees going up next year?
Fees are reviewed annually by the CPBC Board. Future adjustments will depend on CPBC’s needs, so we cannot predict year-to-year changes.
