Amendments to Community Pharmacy Standards of Practice Now in Force

Back to list

Amendments to the Health Professions Act (HPA) bylaws Schedule F – Standards of Practice, Part 1- Community Pharmacy are now in force.

The amendments focus on two priority areas:

  • Pharmacist review of patient profile on PharmaNet prior to dispensing
  • Pharmacist/patient consultation (counselling)

The amended standards were approved for public posting by the Board in February 2015. The College received many comments on the proposed amendments and revised them to address the issues brought forward through the feedback. The College would like to thank everyone who contributed feedback to help inform these amendments.

The College Board approved filing the amendments with the Ministry of Health at the September 2016 Board Meeting. A shortened filing period was requested and the amendments came into force on September 28, 2016.

The changes are now reflected in Schedule F – Standards of Practice, Part 1- Community Pharmacy on the College’s website.
