Bill C-14 on MAID Now Federal Law

On June 17, 2016, the federal government passed legislation that governs the medical assistance in dying (MAID) process. Bill C-14 was approved with amendments by a vote of 44-28, and received royal assent which makes it federal law effective immediately.

PROVINCE PASSES PODSA AMENDMENTS

On April 25, 2016, the provincial government passed the Pharmacy Operations and Drug Scheduling Act (PODSA) amendments. Health Minister Terry Lake moved the third reading of the amendments, which authorize the College to identify pharmacy owners, something that was not possible in the past.
