Exploring the Fundamentals of Oncology
Are you a pharmacist or technician with cancer patients in your general practice? Are you a new practitioner or pharmacy student? Are you interested in foundational oncology education? If you answered yes to any of these questions, plan to attend the CAPhO Oncology Fundamentals Day (OFD17), taking place on Saturday, September 30, 2017 as a full day online learning event.
OFD17 is targeted for general pharmacy practitioners looking for core education on common oncology diseases, cancer treatment toxicities, and cancer symptoms. Education on these topics is becoming increasingly important for community pharmacists as they play an integral role in the provision of supportive care medications for cancer patients. Further, in many provinces community pharmacists dispense and monitor oral anti-neoplastic therapy.
Participate live and learn from the comfort of your own home! The Oncology Fundamentals Day will feature CCCEP accredited sessions, streamed online so you can attend the event live from wherever you are. The preliminary program features the following topics:
- Cancer Screening
- Prostate Cancer
- Gynecological Cancers
- Myeloproliferative Neoplasms
- Bone Marrow Transplant
- Complementary Medicines & Cancer
- Cancer Pain Management
- Immunotherapy Toxicity Management
- Oncologic Emergencies
New this year - purchase the OFD package which includes participation in OFD 2017 and access to the online recordings and resource materials of OFD 2016.
