PharmaNet Profile Support Services Transitioning to Ministry of Health August 1

Effective August 1, 2017, the Ministry of Health will assume responsibility for printing and distributing PharmaNet profiles.

PharmaNet Support Services began transitioning from the College to the Ministry of Health in April 2017 starting with patient profile corrections. Starting August 1, 2017, the Ministry of Health will also be processing all PharmaNet profile requests.

PharmaNet is a valuable tool for protecting public safety. The province-wide network allows health professionals to review a patient’s complete medication history and access up-to-the-minute information regarding drug allergies and potential drug interactions before dispensing prescription products. PharmaNet data is available to community pharmacies, hospital pharmacies, health authority facilities, community health practices, the College of Pharmacists of BC, and the College of Physicians and Surgeons of BC.

The transition of support services ensures that the Ministry of Health, as the Data Steward of PharmaNet, is accountable for data quality, corrections, and information access. The College has been working with the Ministry of Health to ensure a smooth transition process for PharmaNet Support Services.

Printing and Distributing PharmaNet profiles

As of August 1, 2017, all requests for PharmaNet profiles must be sent to PharmaNet Profiles Services using the Ministry of Health Consent for Release of PharmaNet Patient Record form (HLTH 5551).

All PharmaNet patient profile requests currently pending will be transferred to and completed by the Ministry of Health after August 1, 2017.
