Legislation Welcome to the section of our website that deals with the legislation that governs pharmacy in British Columbia. The College of Pharmacists of British Columbia receives its authority from - and is responsible for administering - provincial pharmacy legislation. We are accountable to the public. Our job is to protect public health by licensing and regulating pharmacists and the places where pharmacists practice. Under Provincial Legislation you can find information about the Act that governs pharmacy in B.C. You can also find information about our bylaws, rules and professional practice policies. Under Federal legislation you can find extracts from the Food & Drugs Act and Controlled Drugs and Substances Act that relate to pharmacy practice in B.C. Under Drug Distribution you can find information about the requirements for selling prescription and nonprescription drugs. The Drug Schedules list specific drug names and tell you how their sale is regulated. Any drug not listed in the Drug Schedules can be sold by retail stores that are not licensed as a pharmacy. Under Revision Dates of Legislation you can find a summary of current legislation and legislation updates. |
